Shrink Label Market Shows Rapid Increase

Fairfield, New Jersey - Chesnut is currently supplying two SUPRA 1900 presses between 8 and 12 colors for high speed production of shrink film labels. Rotogravure based, these machines will provide quick turnaround and precision accuracy in order to meet the needs of today’s complex graphics.

State of the art equipment on these machines includes computerized touch screen controls, pre-registration, pull out shaft-less low cost engravings and in-line lamination.  High performance hot air drying is also utilized.

The shrink label market is projected to increase, some sources say, to a $300 million business in the next three years, as the demand for 360º decoration of products such as beverages, health and beauty and household items rapidly increases. Many printers are looking to add or expand their in-house gravure capabilities.  Today’s materials include PVC, PET-G, OPS and OPP

Chesnut Engineering has been involved in shrink labels right from the very beginning, as the manufacturer of the press that printed the original Tylenol™ neckbands. To date top shrink label producers use Chesnut gravure and combination presses as the cost effective solution for this type of work.
